Tunisian crochet and other adventures...

Last holiday season my sister, a terrible enabler, gave me this book. I started messing with the technique last spring, and now things have gone a bit crazy.  I realized that double ended hooks exist, but had none, which led to another small obsession - carving my own hooks.  If his goes well I may even start selling them.  The first item I made with Tunisian in the round is a cowl in Paton's Classic Wool  "Rosewood" for a friend.  I wrote the pattern as I went.  When I have a chance I will be publishing it here as a free pattern.  I've also been experimenting with different Tunisian stitches.  I haven't found a few of these stitches anywhere, so I'm claiming them as my own for the moment...which means I have my own names for them until I find out that they already existed with other names.  I'm also working on a pair of socks in worsted weight with a double hook for house socks.  Once I've fiddled with the heel & toe enough to like it I'll finish off and publish the pattern for that as well.

I've worked with everything from thread to roving, I've experimented with spinning my own yarn, dyeing, carving hooks, and just about everything except knitting.  I tried it, but my extreme left handedness means that two sticks just doesn't compute the way one hook does for my brain.

First Posting

Hello everyone!

In the last year I have been experimenting a great deal with different types of crochet, learning new techniques, and starting to create my own patterns.  I've decided that having a blog might help me keep all of my stuff a little bit more organized.  As with other blogs I've created, I may not be posting all the time, but hopefully the content will make up for my ADD lifestyle.

Cheers!
